Awards and stuff
So the show that I co-wrote and performed in, with the fabulous ladies of Dysfunctional Theatre Company (Jennifer Gill, Amy Overman, Theresa Unfried and Amy Beth Sherman) had an impressive turnout at the Frigid New York festival. We won a Sold Out Show award for being, um, sold out a lot, but we also won the Audience Choice award for the favourite show in our venue!
A couple of reviews that have come out so far have been generally positive. Both reviews have wanted to see the show develop more, and while they were a little sniffy in places, that’s ok by me. A perfect review should worry one.
Apparently we’ll be getting reviews from Paper Magazine and from theatreiseasy.com. We’ll be curious to see their reaction.
Overall, we got mainly positive responses from the show. Our main aim was to get the semblance of a total show in place, see if we got a good reaction and then work on it some more for future festivals (perhaps even Edinburgh?). Wherever we take it, we are all very committed to the concept and we were heartened that others enjoyed our little take on life, love and the universe. I will leave you with a few beautiful shots of the show, taken by the inimitable Deneka Peniston.
