Reviews and guilt
I’ve now done two reviews for nytheatre.com, the best indie reviewing website for New York theatre (IMHO). However, I feel bad because I didn’t hugely like either of the shows I saw, so I now look like I’m one of those awful people who pans every show they go and see. As an actor (who has received her fair share of bad reviews), this brings up all the old Catholic guilt that I thought I’d got rid of in 6 years of Buddhist practice that I’m being unnecessarily mean to other artists, who I always appreciate and respect for the time and effort they put into a show, whether or not I personally dig it. Ah well. I’m reviewing a show in the Fringe Festival this summer, so hopefully it will be AMAZING and I can gush appropriately in that review to balance the first two.
Also: I have two gigs coming up with my band in the next month, one on July 31st at Connolly’s Klub, 121 West 45th Street (bet. 6th & Broadway) at 9pm, and one on August 13th at R Bar, 218 Bowery (bet Prince & Spring), 7pm. For more details, go see our myspace: www.myspace.com/coyoteloveband.
Also also, a film that I was supposed to shoot back in April that got postponed looks like it might be back on this fall (yay!), and I have another audition for a film on Saturday. Small steps.
More news as I get it!
