Podcasts

I love podcasts. I listen to over 10 different ones at any given time, and it’s a fun way to learn something new or just be entertained on the subway. This morning, for example, I was getting funny looks from my fellow A train commuters as I was crying with laughter listening to the Adam and Joe podcast – one of my absolute favourites. Something about the way they compared Lou Reed to a tortoise sent me into fits of laughter and made my commute all the more tolerable.

Recently, Vince has been on at me to record a podcast about myself. I’m pretty narcissistic to begin with, but even I thought this may be a step too far in self-reflection. I already write a blog, I didn’t think people needed another way to avoid having to hear my opinions on everything. However, he was insistent that we at least give it a try, so a week or so ago we sat down and recorded the thing. Here it is, if you’re interested – I’m working on embedding the player into the sidebar on this site so it will update automatically, as well as registering with iTunes so you can subscribe. It’s called ‘Rach In Progress’ and is all about my life as a Brit living in New York, working in film and music and my take on American life (as a foreigner). A few lovely people have already listened and said they enjoyed it, so hopefully it will continue to be interesting.

In other news, I shot new headshots with Vince on Saturday so I’ll be updating my site with those soon, and I’ve got two gigs this week with Coyote Love – one at Fontana’s on Eldridge St, on Thursday June 9th (starting around 7pm), and our regular slot at P&G’s Bar & Grill on 78th & Columbus Ave on Saturday June 11th (starting around midnight). The Fontana’s gig is an acoustic one as part of an open-mic night, so come along if that’s your thing. If not, we’ll be rocking out as usual on Saturday.
